Half-Time Shuffle

The half-time shuffle is one the most important groove to know and you can heard this groove in a great variety of song from R&B to rock, jazz-rock and pop music. I transcribed some important grooves with the half-time shuffle feel, enjoy.

The master of this groove is Bernard Purdie with his work with Steely Dan and his incredible feel would be adopted by John Bonham on “Fool in the Rain”. Late Jeff Porcaro created a compromise between John Bonham and Bernard Purdie groove with the “Rosanna Shuffle” for the tune “Rosanna” by Toto.

Check out the amazing and crazy Bernard Purdie 🙂

Below there’s a list of songs with this feel, personally i recommend the book TheCommandments of the Half-Time Shuffle by Zoro to know more about.
