Dubstep is a genre of electronic music that emerged in the late 1990s in London. People associate dubstep to Skrillex but there’re a lot of great artists such as Burial, SBTRKT, Kode9, Knife Party to name a few. Listen songs with drum parts not played by a drummer but by a drum machine is very important for me, so last night i transcribed some stuff from one of my favourite electronic artist.
William Emmanuel Bevan, known as Burial is an electronic recording artist and producer from South London, his music combines dubstep, UK garage and drum ‘n’ bass, he doesn’t use a traditional sequencer, preferring to create his tracks on an audio editor, using a lot of samples, sound fx and in particular drum parts that don’t rigidly fit to a regular grid.
I chose five tunes from his discography (2007-2014) that includes also collaborations with Massive Attack, Four Tet and Thom Yorke.
Here you can free download the .zip file with the drum transcriptions and the drum tracks.
